Introducing SEE YOU NOW, a New Podcast Spotlighting Nurse Innovation and Leadership
To kick off the Year of the Nurse, the American Nurses Association, together with Johnson & Johnson, today launched SEE YOU NOW, a new podcast series hosted by nurse economist and tech enthusiast Shawna Butler, RN, MBA, highlights innovative and human-centered solutions driven by nurses addressing today’s most challenging healthcare problems.
“Over the centuries and decades, we’ve been looking at nurses and their work, research and science – but we haven’t really been seeing them,” said Shawna. “It’s rare to find nurses on design and innovation teams, places where their insights are vital, and we’re excited to amplify how nurses driving change in healthcare through innovation with SEE YOU NOW.”
Health systems across the world are strained by ever increasing demands and in need of innovation from all corners. On a daily basis, the public trusts nurses to work with billions of dollars of technology, devices, pharmaceuticals, data and human lives. Despite being the most trusted profession, nurses’ potential to improve health outcomes and lead system change is often underestimated and their expertise underutilized. Nurses are discovering the gaps in care and driving solutions, often under the radar, in every care setting they work in; addressing the unmet needs of individuals and communities, leading hospital systems, advancing health technology, and shaping health and human services policy.
“Nurses are actively creating new solutions to redesign care delivery to meet the emerging needs of people and communities across the healthcare continuum,” said American Nurses Association Vice President of Innovation Oriana Beaudet, DNP, RN, PHN. “SEE YOU NOW acknowledges nurses’ rich history of impacting change and showcases the indisputable impact of the nursing profession on the world we live in.”
SEE YOU NOW invites listeners to learn from meaningful conversations with the nurses at the forefront of healthcare and innovation, nurses developing new devices, processes, protocols and ways to treat for maternal mortality, infectious disease, anxiety, palliative care and more. The series aims to spark ideas for future innovations in listeners wherever they may be in their careers and empower anyone with an innovative idea for healthcare with the inspiration and resources to see it through.
