3 Tips for Improving Empirical Outcome Statements

It can be intimidating to write empirical outcomes—the EOs. Here are 3 tips I would suggest to make your credentialing journey easier:

  1. Follow directions. Follow the directions for writing the EOs. Don’t skip a single step.
  2. Make sure you understand what your problem was in the first place. Many organizations have a problem, but what they end up measuring is the intervention, and not whether or not they improved their performance in a particular area.
  3. Really think about your goals. What is it that you want to improve? How are you planning to improve it? Make sure your intervention actually will solve your problem.
